Spring Awakening

Whilst we wait for Spring we are continuously teased by what the stores are already beginning to offer. While I am still wearing my rain boots, I am teased by store windows displays of cute flowy dresses. This Spring and Summer an emphasis has been brought back to the waist, bringing back a more womanly romantic silhouette. Of course no need to get rid of the full comfort we had with past seasons dresses just pair it with a more hard edged medium width belt and you're ready for the late night summer breeze.

City Slicker

The Bukta brand (www.bukta.com) is a UK brand that is over 125 years old and was once sported by the Manchester United football team. Now re-launched and stocked in stores like Selfridges it's reestablishing itself as that iconic brand.

This can really be compared to Member's Only in the US. Both brand had much success in the 80's with their outerwear.

Up next in the spirit of the pastel wonders and the fairies and nymphs in the Spring 08 collections. Of course I am referring in particular to Miuccia Prada's take on fantasy. Or the Tim Walker's Jan 2008 Vogue Italia Spread.

The Chanel lovely

Why buy this, when you can have it's more affordable twin below
:)

(also folks let me know if you want measurements or any other info about the dress or any of the items I post )

Hey I'm Courtney Love

ok ok so was I wrong for saying that. If you haven't heard by now (then where have you been). Courtney Love wore a knockoff Chanel dress in the Kaiser's face (Karl Lagerfeld). For shame. But hey I am no Courtney :x

I have also decided to take a new approach on the closet translations. I'd love if the friends in my head would participate and ask me for some advice. I for one wouldn't mind getting advice from a stranger, how can I judge who. we're miles away lol

Check out this lovely LBD which is remarkable similar to this Chanel dress, although it's cotton and not tulle or chiffon like the lovely pictured above. (until I figure out this posting all the pics I want in one post thing)

Hold on tight

The Little black Dress (LBD)...well if you're anything like. Prim and proper attire does not include a shiny and cutesy clutch.(Sorry Coco) I definitely think that Rihanna would rock this is an option. The studding and pebble textured leather make it a winner to me. Dainty girl or rocker, which one are you?

**Classy chick**

Translation: A girl who puts her money where her mouth is or a girl who brags to much. This one is a toss up.

Closet Translation: Be who you say you are, and I'm sure that's a superstar. Take one average item like a simple satin clutch and replace it with a studded leather one like this.

What's good for them

check out the it girls of the Fall 07 season, Freja and Irina, sporting the very same scarf

Arabian Nights... Downtown Days

Whether it's warm or cold outside a great scarf is always appropriate. This school boy meets hipster meets militant look stole the show at Balenciaga A/W 07 (via style.com). It's of course popular amongst the trend conscious Hollywood and model set. I love the ethnic influence.

A blazer,slim pants/jeans and a athletic inspired shoe and you're ready.

**I like my drama like my coffee, light**

Translation: Fussing too much over anything is a disaster waiting to happen.

Closet Translation: I think the folks over at Moschino have it best said with their diffusion line, cheap and chic. Style to me is an attitude, but one that can easily be accomplished, because when you look good you feel good.

Eco is the new black

In the spirit of all things environmental, I offer up this Ksubi tote. It is so clever, I luv it! very reminiscent of the whole Anya Hindmarch "I'm Not A Plastic Bag" limited edition but much more reasonable :) (its now on ebay for $200!!)

**Eco is the new money**

Translation: Does anyone else see the irony in this ego friendly, sorry eco friendly surge. I mean seriously any thing to make the consumer buy more. Now the fat cats have gotten to that all important emotional connector. If you don't do this and that, you're responsible for killing you future grand children. And let's not get started with the celebrities. (Im not against eco friendliness by the by)

Closet Translation: Organic cotton not only is good for the world but feels great against your skin. I for one have been sold on buying organic cotton t-shirts. So soft and comfy without actually looking like you're wearing nighttime clothes.

Shiny Things

First thanks to Queen Michelle over at Kingdom of Style for the images. So perfectly laid out :)ft by Maurizio Pecorara and right by Alessandro Dell'Acqua)
I will no longer use the word holiday as it creates some kind of you must shop frenzy in the mind. So I will just say lights, camera action for sequined and sparkly things. Gone are the days when sequins made you look like some old tacky lady with mousy hair and god awful pink lipstick. As you can see by these 2 lovely blazers (le. Way out of my budget.

But below is the pocket friendly version by John Varvatos for Converse. And when trying new styles I always go for the darker muted version just because it's a safe segway into a new experience.

In sequins.... 1.2.3....

My second day of blogging. Yea! I love how I am dedicating myself.
I wanted to really take a different approach to fashion blogs. I myself do love to read about my style friends (in my head)inspiration and shopping tales. The woes of having such an expensive love. BUT I did not want to tell you (no matter how inadvertently) that I have fabulous style. I think I do ok but who cares, you want to do better and for LESS! So here I am giving my two cents while you spend yours :)

**Charge it to the game**

Translation: At our age we know we can't win it all. Your first hard lesson was being told no to that toy you thought you couldn't breathe without. Or that job you thought was meant for you and you for it, until you got it and realized different.
The game is life and it's called learning. You realize that what you do is what you do. Simple, period, dot.

Closet translation: You're reinventing yourself and the first place you turn is your closet. Live a little and try something totally unlike you. Either you look fab or you look like a poser, but at least you tried. Charge that silly experience to the game and please get rid of that thing!

Holiday Velvet-Marc Jacobs

For a time of year that is about giving we sure do spend lots of time concentrating on ourselves. I mean think about holiday party attire. It's shiny, sequins and golds galore. Or its soft, plush and rich via our friend velvet. Do you see the irony in looking good while feeling good?
Anyhow, these are velvet gems, dark purple Marc Jacobs from the Fall 2005 collection, have never been worn lovelies. They are a size 40 and truth be told fit more like a 39 hence why I cannot wear them :(

Any simple little black number will do as your feet are showcased, with a little toe cleavage I might add. ( check out style.com for the looks paired with these)

** Time is overrated**

Translation: We all wish there was an extra day in the weekend or there were 26 hours in a day instead of 24. But why when procrastination creates your best work. You sit and linger and doubt your wonderful self.

Closet translation: Go with your first instinct on what you're wearing. And I believe Coco Chanel said it best, take off the last accessory you put on and you're ready to go.

And so it begins...on a Cheap Monday

As the year ends and everyone is filled with Holiday madness, I decided to get some things to the public. Besides my banter on fashion, you'll get some advice...yes advice on anything. So check out the items below and see if there is anything you must have. And I'll start out by saying that SHIPPING IS FREE in the U.S of A and very reasonable for the friends in my head across the pond :)

**People only know what you tell them**

Translation: Be short with folks you don't know. Sharing your advice is different from sharing secrets and talking too much.

Closet translation: Minimalism. Less is more, more often than not. Take these jeans for instance pair it with a men's inspired vest (Rag&Bone @ hejfina.com) or simple tunic length cardigan and you're good to go. This is where classic Chucks (shopnordstrom.com) would def work.

[ bear with me as I master this linking thing, because visuals are great when thinking of outfits ]
